This policy explains what personal information Newton Electrical Services Ltd collects when you use this website or contact us, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Newton Electrical Services Ltd is the data controller for your personal information. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17055020.

What information we collect
When you send us an enquiry or quote request through any form on this website, we collect your name, phone number, email address, postcode where the form asks for it, the service you need, your message, and your answers to any questions on the form (for example the type of property or the charger you prefer).
On our advert landing pages, the form also records which page you sent it from, so we know which advert brought you to us. It does not track you across other websites.
When you phone, text, email or message us, we keep the details you give us so we can deal with your enquiry.
When we carry out work for you, we keep the details we need to do the job and meet our legal duties: your name, the address of the property, your contact details, the work carried out, any certificates we issue, and invoices and payments.
When you browse the website, our hosting and security providers automatically process technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. We do not use this to identify you.
How we use it and our legal basis
| What we use it for | Legal basis under UK GDPR |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and giving you a quote | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract |
| Carrying out the work, issuing certificates, invoicing | Performance of a contract |
| Notifying Building Control where required, keeping tax and accounting records | Legal obligation |
| Knowing which advert or page an enquiry came from; keeping the website secure | Our legitimate interests in running and promoting the business |
We will not send you marketing emails, and we never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with organisations that help us run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Hetzner, which runs the server this website is hosted on, in Germany.
- Cloudflare, which delivers the website and protects it from attacks.
- Resend, which delivers website enquiries to our email inbox. The website itself does not store your enquiry.
- Our email provider, where your enquiry is received and kept.
- Local Authority Building Control or a registration scheme, when the law requires us to notify your installation.
- Our accountants and HMRC, for tax and accounting records.
This website uses Google Fonts to display its text, which means your browser requests the font files from Google.
Transfers outside the UK
Our hosting server is in Germany, which the UK recognises as giving adequate protection. Cloudflare, Resend and Google may process information in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by the UK's data adequacy regulations (the UK-US Data Bridge) or by approved contract terms such as the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records, certificates and invoices: 6 years after the work is completed, to meet tax and legal requirements. Certificates may be kept longer so we can help you if you need a copy for your property.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies for visitors and does not use analytics or advertising trackers. One cookie is used only when we open a private review link to check changes to the website; ordinary visitors never receive it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask for your information in a format you can take to another organisation.
To use any of these rights, please contact us at info@newtonelectric.co.uk. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month. Some rights do not apply where we must keep records by law, and we will explain if that is the case.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
