From enquiry to charging
We make getting an EV charger installed simple. From the initial quotation through to installation, setup and aftercare, we take care of the full process.

Tell us about your installation
Send us a few details about your vehicle, where you would like the charger positioned and your current electrical setup. In most cases, a few photos are enough for us to assess the installation.

We recommend the right setup
We'll review your property and recommend a suitable charger and installation method, including any electrical upgrades or additional protection required.

Receive a clear fixed price
Once we have everything we need, we'll provide a clear quotation for the complete installation, so you know exactly what you're paying before any work begins.

Professional installation
Your charger will be installed neatly and professionally, with the correct electrical protection in place to protect both you and your charger. Once complete, the installation will be fully tested and certified.

Setup, registration & handover
We'll commission the charger, connect the app, show you how everything works and handle the DNO notification and charger warranty registration. We won't leave until you're comfortable using your new charger.

Aftercare & support
Our service doesn't stop once the installation is complete. If you have any questions or need help with your charger, app or settings afterwards, you can contact us directly for local aftercare and support.

We had an EV charger fitted at home, we didn't even know where to start with looking for this. We contacted Newton Electrical and found Bailey so helpful, he explained the pros and cons of different chargers and guided us through to understand EV chargers better. On the day of installation Bailey turned up on time, was very pleasant and worked hard to get the EV charger fitted. Baileys work was very tidy and he cleaned and tidied up after himself. Once the charger was fitted Bailey took the time to show me how to use the app and how to use the charger. Very professional, would highly recommend.

How much does an EV charger installation cost?
For a standard home installation, you would typically be looking at £800–£1,200, depending on the charger you choose and the electrical setup at your property. More complex installations, longer cable runs or additional electrical work can increase the cost, but we'll assess everything first and provide a clear quotation before any work is carried out.
Which EV charger is best suited to my home?
We'll recommend the charger that best suits your vehicle, property, charging habits and electricity tariff. We install a carefully selected range of chargers including Ohme, Hypervolt and evec.
Do I need to choose a charger before requesting a quotation?
Not at all. Tell us what car you have and a little about your property and we'll talk you through the options.
Can you assess my property's suitability from photos?
In most cases, yes. We'll normally ask for photos of your meter, consumer unit, proposed charger location and the route between them so we can assess the installation and provide an accurate quotation.
Will my consumer unit need upgrading for an EV charger installation?
Not necessarily. We'll assess your existing electrical setup first. If additional protection or a separate EV consumer unit is required, we'll explain this clearly and include it within your quotation.
Is off-street parking required for a home EV charger?
Generally, you'll need somewhere on your property where the vehicle can be parked and charged safely. If you're unsure whether your property is suitable, send us some details and we'll advise you.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Many straightforward installations can be completed within a day. More complex cable routes or additional electrical work can take longer, but we'll explain this before booking your installation.
Can the charger be installed away from my meter or fuse board?
Yes. Every property is different and we can route the supply to the most suitable charger location. Longer or more complex cable routes may affect the cost.
What is the difference between a tethered and untethered charger?
A tethered charger has the charging cable permanently attached, making everyday charging quick and convenient. An untethered charger has a socket instead, giving you a cleaner appearance and the flexibility to use your own cable.
Can an EV charger be used with off-peak electricity tariffs?
Yes. Smart chargers can be scheduled around compatible EV tariffs, helping you take advantage of cheaper charging periods where available.
Can an EV charger be used with solar panels?
Yes. If solar matters to you, the Hypervolt has a built-in solar sensor, so surplus power from your panels is sent to the car rather than the grid. Tell us you have solar and we'll recommend the right charger to make the most of it.
Are longer charging cables available?
No problem. We offer tethered chargers with different cable lengths, so we can help you choose one that comfortably reaches your vehicle.
Do you handle the DNO notification?
Yes. Where required, we handle the relevant DNO notification or application as part of the installation.
Will I receive an electrical certificate on completion?
Yes. Your installation will be fully tested and the appropriate electrical certification provided.
What electrical protection does an EV charger require?
EV chargers require the correct electrical protection to keep both you and the charger protected. We assess every installation individually and install the appropriate protection for your property and charger.
Will you commission the charger and set up the app?
Yes. We commission the charger, connect it to the app and show you how everything works before we leave.
Do you register the charger warranty?
Yes. We'll make sure the charger is correctly commissioned and the relevant manufacturer warranty is activated or registered where required.
Can you install a charger I have supplied myself?
Potentially, yes. Send us the make and model and we can check whether it is suitable for your property and installation.
What happens if I experience a problem after installation?
All chargers come with a 3 year warranty. We provide local aftercare and support following your installation, so if you have any questions or issues afterwards, you can get in touch with us.
